#HotGirlSummer
When we heard about "hot girl summer" it was greeted with an exaggerated eyeroll.
This phrase, that seemed to be every instagram caption we came across, felt like an internet movement that wasn't inclusive to the full spectrum of gender and we assumed that it was designed for women that looked a certain way- i.e. not like us. We are here to say we were totally wrong.
The Hot Girl Summer movement was started by 24 year old rapper, Megan Thee Stallion. As the original "Hot Girl" she explained on twitter a little more about what it means to be a hot girl,
"Being a Hot Girl is about being unapologetically YOU, having fun, being confident, living YOUR truth , being the life of the party etc."
Despite the term "girl" the term is not designed to be gendered. We are here for this type of message, and any type of content that tells people that they are beautiful and powerful just the way they are.
To us some nights that means no apologies for the second ice cream cone in under 24 hours, doing outdoor yoga and not worrying about the cherry red tomato face it yields, or wearing the damn crop top. We want to radiate that kind of energy. If you are feeling a little low on your HGE- hot girl energy, or just want to enhance all that you are, check out these ideas embracing for YOU. Why limit it to only Summer?
