hi, I’m Marti!
I’m the baker and magic maker behind this little slice of vegan + gluten-free heaven. While not vegan or gluten-free myself, I have always been committed to inclusivity (in fact, this little company started as an inclusive Bed & Breakfast- read the full history here). It’s my life’s work to ensure everyone can feel welcome around my table, and I believe that starts with food that can be enjoyed by everyone. My promise to you is damn good baked goods, made by hand the old-fashioned way, that could fool even the biggest fans of butter and gluten, guaranteed.
My entire career has been spent in hospitality, although I’ve never attended culinary school. A love of baking and entertaining was instilled in me early, thanks to lots of time in a kitchen with my grandmother, as well as my unofficial teachers- Martha Stewart and Ina Garten on TV. I’m so glad you’re here, let’s make some magic together!

At Thistle’s Summit, we specialize in treats steeped in nostalgia made for the modern palate and modern tummies. Our treats taste like your grandma made them, but are safe for everyone to enjoy. You won’t find anything that tastes like cardboard here, promise. Real treats inspired by classics, made the old-fashioned way, with so much love you can taste it.

We want to bring you the goods, wherever you are. Our retail partners throughout the Des Moines metro are stocked weekly with treats, among them, the iconic OCP. We offer cakes, cookies, bars, and so much more for custom orders. Treats for everyone, for any occasion. We are a preorder pick up + wholesale bakery only.
